Clarkson College is currently seeking a Vice President of College Finance. The Vice President of College Finance (CFO) provides executive leadership to the institution and is responsible for successful outcomes related to College financial sustainability. This role serves as the head accountant for the College and is expected to serve as the chief financial steward, operator, and strategist, as well as ensure fiscal responsibility, drive revenue growth, and ensure success.
The College CFO is also responsible for college leadership and planning in College Master Planning proposals, Strategic Planning initiatives, and fundraising plans. The College CFO has oversight of preparation of accurate financial statements and data for financial reporting, financial analysis, and budget preparation in order to provide quality and timely information to all levels of management with supervisory responsibilities for multiple administrators and staff members in assigned departments.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to developing and executing short and long-range financial plans/strategies, communicating strategies internally and externally with all constituents, the ongoing development and monitoring of college financial, and hospital financial systems designed to preserve College assets and report accurate financial results; and to improve and maintain all development and services of grant and scholarship funding, and College revenue and operations. This leadership role works in collaboration with the President's Office, the College Executive Leadership Team, Leadership Council, College Board of Directors, and all community internal and external constituents. This position is responsible for setting a high standard of vision, leadership, and direction to meet the Mission of Clarkson College.
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in accounting required.
* Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in progressive accounting, financial management, and leadership required.
* Personal computer skills and related computer systems operations flow and controls, as well as software packages/applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and all general ledger systems and sub-systems (used extensively) required.
* Experience in program assessment, shared governance, and financial reporting expected.
* Strong ability to collaborate and an openness to ideas expected.
* Commitment to the Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategic Goals of the College.
* Commitment to quality and integrity.
* Ability and willingness to multi-task as well as delegate effectively and hold direct reports accountable in a professional manner.
* Skilled decision-maker, with transparency in decision-making and management.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to effectively present, advocate for departments and share department needs, issues, and performance with diverse and multi-disciplinary audiences.
* Strong leadership skills to develop and maintain a high-functioning team.
* Proven track-record of relationship building and a demonstrated ability to be a strategic partner with a highly collaborative nature.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Master's degree in business administration preferred.
* Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred. Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred.
* Higher education financial leadership experience preferred.
