Nebraska Medicine is seeking a Process Engineer to join us in establishing a culture of collaboration and performance. You will use Lean principles to improve processes and financial performance of the health system.

The Process Engineer oversees the design and implementation of process improvement projects to achieve the objectives and key results of Nebraska Medicine. Process Engineers are responsible for the assessment, design, development, and implementation of process improvement strategies, optimization of current processes, and maintaining process documentation by using industrial engineering and other Lean tools to assess and identify opportunities to improve process efficiency and resource allocation. Collaborate with leaders and colleagues across the health system to develop and implement improved workflows) and ensure optimal resource levels.

Required Qualifications: Process Engineer

  • BS in industrial engineering or equivalent analytical decree required
  • A minimum of one year of work experience required (including internships or co-op experience)
  • Operational knowledge of healthcare areas such as nursing, perioperative services, emergency department and support services required.
  • Ability to provide oral and written technical guidance, training, and policy interpretation related to continuous improvement processes including excellent presentation and facilitation skills required.
  • Must have experience with process simulations and standard operating procedures. Exposure to specific process mapping tools and data analytics tools such as Excel, Tableau preferred.
  • Ability to review and make recommendations regarding expenditure proposals and cost justification analyses, including the review of quantitative and qualitative analyses of proposed purchases required.
  • Ability to lead multi-functional performance improvement teams in the establishment of best practices and their continuous improvement required.
  • Ability to develop and implement technical solutions regarding equipment and optimization of space, equipment, and complement to meet new or changed processing requirements required.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data, test hypotheses, evaluate and present results providing fact-based solution strategies for key business issues required.
  • Ability to oversee and coordinate the activities of others to meet project objectives, including organizing, assigning, and monitoring the work, establishing effective work relationships, and facilitating the flow of work-related information required.

    Preferred Qualifications: Process Engineer

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional certifications, i.e. Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB) or similar preferred.
  • Knowledge of process improvement techniques such as Lean, root cause analysis, continuous improvement, process mapping, time studies, staffing analysis, and change management preferred.
