Position highlights:
Nebraska Medicine is now taking applications for a self-motivated individual to join our team of Drug Policy & Formulary Management (DPFM) pharmacists. This individual will provide quality improvement, drug policy, drug information, and formulary management expertise to the organization. He/she adds value to the organization by optimizing medication use, improving medication-related outcomes, and enhancing safety through dissemination of information gained from the compilation, analysis and interpretation of internal and external data sources. The DPFM pharmacist works efficiently and effectively with other healthcare professionals to accomplish departmental and institutional goals. The candidate must demonstrate excellent communication and exhibit strong educational and precepting abilities.
Shift:
Full-time (0.9FTE) position
Monday - Friday from ~ 8 AM to 5 PM

Additional Details:
Essential functions of the position include the following: Maintain recognizable expertise and up to date knowledge in appropriate specialty practice areas, providing expert consultation with other health care professionals as appropriate. Take a leadership role in continuous quality improvement efforts related to drug policy, research, pharmacoeconomics, and outcomes and represent the department as an interdisciplinary interface in the assigned specialty areas. Oversee the management and utilization of databases containing information related to medication use and ensure identification of medication use trends. Teach pharmacy, medical, physician assistant, nursing, and other personnel where appropriate and precept staff, externs, clinical clerkship students and residents participating in practical experience training programs in the assigned specialty area.

Drug Policy and Formulary Management Pharmacist:
Work with minimal supervision and provide expertise not routinely available within the pharmacy staff regarding use of evidence-based knowledge and resulting value and patient outcomes to the organization. Provide leadership focused on optimizing medication use and maximizing outcomes throughout the organization. Work independently and in concert with other disciplines to coordinate accrual, analysis and dissemination of new knowledge, utilization trends and outcomes information related to medication use at the organization. Work effectively with colleagues within pharmacy.. Provide necessary and appropriate support for the organization as well as alternate sites and remote sites associated with the organization via pharmacy relations.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of five years clinical practice experience in the clinical specialty or an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited postgraduate year two residency in the specialty required.
Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited Doctor of Pharmacy degree program OR possess a Bachelor or Master of pharmacy degree with 10 years of experience or other advanced degree in pharmacy required.
Independent problem-solving skills and self-directed work experience required.
Demonstrate outstanding written and verbal communication skills required.
Excellent speaking ability and the ability to communicate with senior attending physicians required.
Maturity and coaching leadership skills required.
Ability to work independently and handle stress appropriately required.
Licensed in the state of Nebraska or jurisdiction in which pharmacy practice is conducted upon start or transfer required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in drug policy development, academic detailing, stewardship, research pharmacy operations and management OR hospital pharmacy management preferred.
American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited postgraduate year one or two residency as deemed appropriate and relevant to practice or equivalent experience preferred.
Experience in applying principles of performance improvement to complex medication use issues preferred.
Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties (BPS) certification as deemed appropriate and relevant to practice preferred.
